Botham’s Lords debut

Lord Botham of Ravensworth, the former England cricket captain, took his place in the House of Lords yesterday for the first time. The introduction ceremony was interrupted by a technical glitch, at which Lord Fowler, the Speaker, joked that ‘rain had stopped play’
