Controls on the bereaved
A funeral was interrupted by crematorium staff to tell two grieving sons they had to leave their mother’s side, it has emerged as the family said social distancing regulations were “beyond belief ”. The funeral of Alan Wright, 78, at the Crownhill crematorium in Milton Keynes was paused by a staff member after the sons moved their chairs to comfort their mother. Craig Bicknell, Mr Wright’s son, said he had been in a bubble with his mother for weeks and while allowed to sit next to each other in the pub or travel to the service together, as well as carry the coffin in together, they could not comfort each other during the funeral. The sons said the actions made a “devastating day even worse”. Crownhill crematorium, which is run by Milton Keynes council, did not provide a comment in response.
