Duchess’s Suits husband a ‘little scared’ to call former co-star
THE Duchess of Sussex’s former Suits co-star has admitted he is now “intimidated” to call her, saying her life has become “completely enormous” and is “wild to watch”.
Patrick J Adams, who played the then-meghan Markle’s husband in the Netflix legal drama, said he is a “little scared” to pick up the telephone, not knowing what he would say to her.
In an interview with Radio Times, he said it was “hard to watch” her new life and the scrutiny it comes with, praising how she is “handling herself very well”.
Saying they had been in touch via text and swapped gifts for the births of their children, he said they no longer spend time together because “Meghan’s life is incredibly full and she’s been navigating a lot”.
Asked what was stopping him picking up the telephone, Adams said:
“Quite frankly, I think I’m intimidated.
“I have no doubt I could pick up the phone and call her at any moment, but I don’t know what I would say.
“After our children were born, there were some texts sent and gifts sent, but I guess I’m a little scared.
“I think it’s pure fear. I guess I’m scared about the idea of breaking through whatever walls exist to have that conversation.”
Adams was a guest at the wedding of Prince Harry and Ms Markle in May 2018, along with many of her Suits costars.
In an interview about his new programme The Right Stuff, the story of America’s first astronauts, he said of the Duchess’s life now: “It’s been wild to watch. I have a lot of empathy for anybody whose life becomes discussed all over the planet by people who probably know less than 1 per cent about what’s truly going on behind closed doors.
“Knowing how compassionate she can be, it’s hard to watch because you want your friends to be left alone to build their life together.”
