Dementia sufferers flee care home in stolen car

-

A mechanic in Germany had a shock when his car was stolen by two elderly men on the run from a care home for people with dementia.

Ingo Kurz left the keys to his Dacia in the ignition when two men jumped in and drove away from the garage in Neudorf. The 77-year-old driver and his 86-year-old passenger were finally traced by police and returned home.

“Maybe the food wasn’t so good at the care home and they wanted to pop out,” Mr Kurz, 44, joked. It is unlikely the duo will face prosecution for theft.
