The Touch Test: The Results

This programme releases the results from the BBC’S “Touch Test”, launched in January this year in collaboration with the Wellcome Collection, asking nearly 40,000 people from 112 countries their attitudes towards touch in daily life. As 2020 has been increasingly shaped by social distancing, the study has perhaps taken on new resonance. Claudia Hammond and Professor Michael Banissy look at the study’s findings, exploring how touch maintains social bonds, the role of touch in caring, and how touch affects our health and sleep.
