Third of schools tell of rise in home learning

More than a third of 121 schools visited by Ofsted inspectors have seen an increase in children being home educated, the watchdog found as Amanda Spielman, the chief inspector, warned it is a “worrying” trend.

Heads reported that the rise in parents pulling their children out since the start of the new academic year is down to their “anxiety” about Covid-19.
