Jan 7-9 2015 Charlie Hebdo offices and supermarke­t Twelve people are killed in the offices of Charlie Hebdo after it published a drawing of the Prophet Mohammed. Two days later four hostages are killed in a Jewish supermarke­t.

Nov 13 2015 Bataclan

131 people are killed in shootings in Paris by IS supporters at the Bataclan theatre, street cafés, and Stade de France. François Hollande, the president, calls it an “act of war”.

July 14 2016 Nice

86 people are killed on Bastille Day after a Tunisian man drives a 19-ton truck through crowds gathered on the promenade in Nice. The driver is killed by police.

June 6 2017 Notre-dame

An Algerian-born journalist attacks a police officer with a hammer outside Notre-dame Cathedral. He is shot and arrested by a second officer. In a video found at his home he pledged allegiance to IS.

March 23 2018 Carcassonn­e and Trèbes

An Is-affiliated gunman kills one person in a carjacking in Carcassonn­e. He then drives to Trèbes where he storms a supermarke­t, killing three more.

Dec 11 2018 Strasbourg market

A gunman kills five and injures 11 after opening fire on a Christmas market. He is killed in a gun battle with police two days later after a massive search.

Oct 3 2019 Paris police HQ

A man who works at Paris police HQ stabs three police officers and one member of support staff to death. The attacker had previously voiced his support for the 2015 Charlie Hebdo attack.

April 4 2020 Romans-surIsère

Two people are killed and five wounded by a Sudanese refugee. The suspect is not previously known to police or intelligen­ce services, according to reports.

Sept 25 2020 Charlie Hebdo

Two people are stabbed outside the former offices of Charlie Hebdo after it republishe­d a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed. A Pakistani man is arrested.

Oct 16 2020 Paris teacher

A Chechen rebel beheads teacher Samuel Paty on the streets of north-west Paris. Mr Paty had recently shown his class drawings of the Prophet Mohammed.
