1 The tattoo: proven

In March 2013, Heard laughed at Depp’s “Wino” tattoo, resulting in an argument when Depp assaulted his wife for the first time. 2 The painting: proven Later the same month, Depp attempted to set fire to a painting during a fight with Heard. Her sister, Whitney Henriquez, later saw Heard with a split lip.

3 Hicksville: proven

In late May or early June 2013, the couple fell out after Depp became jealous of another woman flirting with Heard. Screaming and shouting was heard in their trailer, which had “broken glass strewn everywhere” the next morning. 4 Plane journey from Boston to LA: proven In May 2014, the court found that Depp consumed substantial quantities of alcohol and cocaine before verbally and physically abusing Heard, when he kicked her in the back. 5 The Bahamas: proven

In August 2014, when the couple visited the island Depp owned to try to defeat Depp’s drug addiction he pushed and screamed at her.

6 LA: Not proven

Heard alleged that in December 2014 Depp was violent towards her before he sent a message admitting he “had gone way too far” and he was a “savage”. The judge ruled he was not convinced that “his apology was not, for instance, caused instead by a particularly heated verbal argument”.

7 Tokyo: proven

In January 2015, Depp shoved, slapped and grabbed Heard by the hair while the couple were travelling with his two children. The judge did not accept that the children’s presence would have inhibited him from abusing Heard. 8 Australia: proven

In March 2015, Heard was a “victim of sustained and multiple assaults” in Australia by Depp, the judge concluded. He rejected Depp’s claim Heard had severed his finger by throwing a bottle at him.

9 The stairs: proven

Heard told the court she feared Depp would throw her sister Whitney down the stairs so she lunged at him. He responded by grabbing her hair and hitting her in the head. 10 South east Asia train: proven Depp was accused of hitting his wife around the face and tearing off her shirt in Singapore. The judge accepted Heard “feared for her life on this occasion”.

11 LA November 26 2015: not proven

Depp was alleged to have thrown a bottle of wine at Heard in the bedroom, leaving

“broken glass scattered all over the bed”. 12 December 15 2015: proven The night before Heard appeared on James Corden’s The Late Late Show, she and Depp had “one of the worst and most violent nights”, resulting in her using a lot of make-up to cover up her bruises and bleeding lip for the show.

13 April 21 2016: proven

At Heard’s 30th birthday party, Depp assaulted her. Heard told the court he threw a magnum champagne bottle at her, grabbed her by the hair and pushed her to the ground. In the “faeces on the bed” incident, the judge dismissed suggestions that he should decide whether it was Heard or her dog that defecated on a bed.

14 LA May 21 2016: proven

Depp threw a phone at Heard’s face, hitting her on the right cheek and eye.
