Man dies after tree falls on houseboat

A MAN has died after a tree fell on to a houseboat in Cornwall.

Emergency services, including an inshore lifeboat, were called out to the scene in Sailor’s Creek, near Flushing, Falmouth, at 5.45pm on Saturday.

The man, in his 50s, was treated at the scene but later pronounced dead.

He has not been formally identified but Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were currently treating the death as a “tragic accident”.

His next of kin had been informed and a file is being prepared for the coroner, police said.

A Devon and Cornwall Police s pokesman s ai d:

“Police were called following reports that a tree had fallen and a man on the beach had been injured.

“The coastguard and RNLI lifeboat also attended the s cene and the man was brought to shore, where he was seen by paramedics.

“The man in his 50s was confirmed deceased at the scene, his next of kin have been informed. At this time the death is not being treated as suspicious but as an accidental death.”

A spokesman for the coastguard said: “Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team and Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat were sent and assisted in a multi-agency response, in which Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service extracted and recovered the person from the vessel.”
