Hidden tapestry talent

sir – My husband, now retired from the Merchant Navy, decided to take up tapestry (Letters, January 2) during the last lockdown and enlisted my help to put the designs he wanted on two pieces of the canvas.

He then produced a picture for each of our daughters of the ships that he was serving on when they were born. We framed them ourselves and they became a surprise Christmas present for them.

They were delighted and deeply moved by what he had done – and done superbly well for a complete beginner.

I am now wondering what other hidden talents we might tap into.
