LIFESTYLE ASIDES

Coffee Three double espressos before lunch.

- Anna Magee

Guilty pleasure

Toblerone, usually every day.

Alcohol None. After I had cancer, my oncologist said to avoid it. It’s easier for me to give things up than to have just a bit of something like alcohol (and probably chocolate, too).

Sleep Six to seven hours (not enough).

The kit I have a Concept2 indoor rower at home – it’s a solid piece of kit and the one all the national teams use around the world.

five to six times a week. I have a rowing machine at home and get six weekly workouts from Matt mixing aerobic strength, interval training and resistance training.

My diet principles

Rowing burns a lot of calories, so now I feel like I can eat whatever I like.

What I eat in a typical day

Breakfast Cereal or porridge with milk.

Lunch Avocado, tomato and mozzarella salad with pasta and pesto sauce.

Dinner Steak and salad.

Training plans from Olympic rower Matthew Tarrant are available from rowelite.com, starting from £20. Auriol Kensington Rowing Club; akrowing.com
