Airport chaos Travellers queue for up to six hours

Travellers arriving at Heathrow are being forced to queue for up to six hours because of Covid checks, Chris Garton, the airport’s chief solutions officer, has warned.

He told MPS on the transport select committee that “the situation is becoming untenable” and police had been forced to step in to calm angry passengers.

He said wait times were now typically “well in excess of two hours and up to six hours” and the “solution” is to enable passengers to ensure their entry to the UK is “assured” before they begin their journey.
