Making of a family home close to Sandringham
The family video offers a brief first look at the Cambridge family’s country home, the late-georgian property gifted by the Queen after they married.
Anmer Hall is one-and-a-half miles from Sandringham House and boasts 10 bedrooms, a swimming pool and a newly refurbished Astroturf tennis court.
The Duke and
Duchess oversaw extensive renovations to the property, including a new roof and kitchen.
They also added the stylish garden room captured in the background of the family footage, which features a large skylight and dark grey doors.
It was designed by architect Charles Morris, who became friends with the Prince of Wales after meeting him at Sandringham.
Mr Morris, whose greatgreatgrandfather Sir John Kelk built the Royal Albert Hall, supervised the re-routing of the mansion’s main driveway to give the family more privacy and the conversion of outbuildings for use by their security staff.
The garden room is said to boast a large dining table where the Cambridges enjoy family meals.
It was built in the place of a conservatory and links the main house to a flat that is home to their nanny, Maria Borrallo.
A pergola was added over a patio alongside it to give the royal couple extra privacy while more trees were planted around the house to screen it from public view.
The home has become central to family life and is where they head during school holidays, affording peace and quiet, privacy and access to their much-loved country pursuits. Victoria Ward
