Rescued walker was wearing headphones

RNLI lifeguards and lifeboat volunteers were yesterday called to a walker cut off on a sandbank who turned out to be wearing headphones.

Rescuers at Rhyl, in Denbighshire, North Wales, said that he had been unaware that the tide had come in around him and was unable to hear a lifeguard warning.

A spokesman said that the man was escorted safely to shore but got soaked.

“Please always be aware of the tide when visiting the beach,” the RNLI spokesman said.
