Race of the day

This year’s renewal of the Albany Stakes (2.30) appears an absolute cracker and looks far and away the most interesting juvenile contest of the week. Coming forward are wide-margin debut winners Flotus, Hello You and Cachet, with the latter-named heading up a strong three-pronged assault on the race for young trainer George Boughey, whose two further entries include Woodcote Stakes winner Oscula (above). Prettiest is another of the potential top-class fillies set to line-up.

Bet of the day

In what looks an open renewal of the Commonwealth Cup, it is hard not to have been impressed by the progress made by unbeaten filly Suesa (3.40) across the English Channel, having won both of her starts this season by three-plus lengths for new trainer Francois Rohaut and owner George Strawbridge. She is well worth her first try in Group 1 company.
