Grandmother will cheer swimmer loudly at home

-

The grandmother of swimmer Adam Peaty will support his events alone so she can make a lot of noise.

Mavis Williams, 79, could have been surrounded by wellwishers as none of Peaty’s family have travelled to Tokyo but has instead shunned company.

“I shall be screaming me head off here,” said Mrs Williams, having already put up the bunting and flags outside her bungalow to wish him luck as heats begin in Tokyo tomorrow.

“I’ll be quite happy because I can make more noise,” she added.
