I’m a dog person, but Ulrika’s tribute tattoos are barking mad

-

Regular readers will know I am primarily a dog person. Having said that, I could pass reasonably well as a cat person as I once looked after seven of them.

I bought the guinea pig a little harness for walks. I let the gecko stay up and watch the Euros (at least until half time), and I go out into the garden every morning and sing to my two koi carp, Oscar de la Renta and Shawn Mendes.

This is by way of pointing out I’m as mildly eccentric as the next animal owner. But nothing like as bonkers as Ulrika Jonsson, who has had the name of her deceased rescue dog,

Fella, tattooed on her arm.

Why? Why oh why? To go along with all the other tributes to dead bulldogs, of course.

She has a big paw inking with the name “Dexter”, and an enormous yellow sunflower for Nessie and, in case of any doubt, further tattoos of a bulldog popping its head out of a cooking apron and a rather superfluous declaration that she is “the Mother of Bullies”.

I have tried to imagine what on earth she was thinking. I can only assume the 53-year-old was in such a state of extremis that she wasn’t capable of rational thought.

Ironically, my go-to suggestion for brain fog or low mood is to beg, borrow or buy a dog and go for long walks to recalibrate.

However, I think, under the circumstances, Ulrika perhaps ought to stay home and wean herself off puppy love before she resembles a walking pet cemetery.
