Policeman who staged car crash given warning
A police officer who staged a car crash for an insurance payout has avoided being struck off.
Pc Tim Scott, of the Metropolitan Police’s firearms squad, was deemed to have committed gross misconduct and handed a final written warning following the crash in Reigate, Surrey.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said Pc Scott was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour in relation to discreditable conduct, and honesty and integrity.
Chief Insp Matt Cox said: “I hope this provides a clear message regarding the way we expect our officers to conduct themselves.”
