Drivers urged to book MOT or risk £1,000 fine

-

Owners of cars due an MOT test next month are being urged to book early or risk being hit with a £1,000 fine because of a surge in demand.

The MOT test exemption introduced following the Covid outbreak has increased the number of vehicles that need to be checked in September. Drivers can be fined up to £1,000 for using a vehicle without a valid MOT.

Jack Cousens, AA head of roads policy, said: “With more than

5.5 million cars deferring an MOT, it is crucial that they are tested... Savvy drivers can get ahead of the game.”
