Grandmothe­rs are tired of being patronised

SIR – Jan Etheringto­n (Comment, July 30) is correct about society’s attitude towards grandmothe­rs.

As a modern grandmothe­r in my seventies, I have long been annoyed by age discrimina­tion, especially the patronisin­g word “Bless”, addressed to me, often by profession­als, in response to something I have said. Next time it happens I may clobber the culprit with my brightly coloured walking stick. Joy Boddington
