Not to be outdone in this, the summer of novelty sporting vehicles, baseball deployed a normal-sized cart to bring relief pitchers out to the mound, transported on a giant glove. Given the shape of a baseball glove, it was impossible for anyone to sit up straight in it and, as such, players looked ready to bed down for the night rather than compete in an Olympic event. “I’m not coming back to the hotel tonight lads, just going to sleep in the Glovemobile.”
