Haitian gangster vows to assist earthquake relief
A Haitian gang leader has promised to assist in relief efforts following the devastating earthquake that officials now say killed 2,207 people.
It comes as relief operations are expanding, but authorities have struggled with security at distribution points. Gangs have hijacked aid trucks and ambulances, forcing relief workers to transport supplies by helicopter.
Yesterday, Jimmy Cherizier, leader of the G9 Revolutionary Forces, said: “We invite all compatriots to show solidarity with the victims by trying to share what little there is with them.”
