Thunder Road (2018)

The previously unknown Jim Cummings makes a real splash in this comedy-drama, writing, directing and starring as a small-town Texan cop in meltdown, struggling with bereavement, a bitter divorce, and a custody battle. If the supporting characters feel like they are only glorified props for his petulant anti-hero, that’s somehow fitting for this portrait of a manic narcissist.
