Forrest Gump (1994)

Robert Zemeckis’s Oscar-winning comedy drama is full of spirit – even if, at times, it’s saccharine. Forrest (Tom Hanks) is a simpleton with a heart of gold, who, ever true to the homely advice of his mother (Sally Field) is reflecting on his improbable life as a Vietnam War hero, table-tennis champion and accidental millionaire. How much you enjoy it will depend on your sentimentality threshold.
