THE TWEED BOUCLÉ JACKET

There are subtle tactile differences between a flecky tweed and a loopy bouclé knit, but this season a hybrid encapsulates the best of both in terms of softness and structure. Jigsaw and Marks & Spencer have some of the best – the latter does a smartly collared “trucker” style, in khaki or classic black and white at £59. There are also some exquisite designer pieces in the sale (the quality of the material is everything for this jacket type). See Huishan Zhang’s sky blue tweed, with 70 per cent off, or All Saints’ ‘Ashley’ tassel jacket at 50 per cent if you’re not averse to some controlled fringing and fraying.
