Dancer found dead at home in suspected murder-suicide
‘No sign of domestic abuse’ after body of 22-year-old found next to that of a man identified as her partner
POLICE are investigating the death of a 22-year-old marketing executive in a suspected murder-suicide after she was found dead alongside her boyfriend.
Officers were called to a detached property in Kettering, Northants, at lunchtime on Friday after receiving reports of concern for the welfare of the occupants.
After entering the house they discovered the body of Maddie Durdanthollamby from Wimblington, Cambs, lying next to the body of a man.
The dead man was identified by police as Benjamin Green, 41, who Miss Durdant-hollamby was in a relationship with. Senior investigating officer detective inspector Nicole Main from Northamptonshire Police said: “While we await a formal identification of Benjamin, we have taken the step of naming him today with the support of his family.
“We understand he and Maddie had been in a relationship, and are working to establish as much as is possible about the circumstances in which they died.
“This is an incredibly sad case, and we ask that the grief and privacy of both families are respected by the media as they mourn their loved ones.
“They are overwhelmed with sadness and have asked that they be left in peace at this terribly distressing time.”
Northamptonshire Police confirmed they were treating Miss Durdant-hollamby’s death as murder but added that no arrests had been made and they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation.
They also said they had found no background of domestic abuse but appealed for anyone with any relevant information to contact them.
In a family statement issued by police on behalf of Miss Durdant-hollamby’s family, they said: “We are absolutely devastated at the loss of Maddie, our beautiful daughter, sister, granddaughter and niece. Our hearts are broken and we cannot begin to imagine life without her … Maddie was a kind, caring, thoughtful young woman, who touched the lives of everyone she met.
“A talented dancer, her creative talent continued through school and into her career in marketing.”
Detective inspector Nicole Main said: “This case is exceptionally tragic and our team has been working over the past 48 hours to establish the circumstances that have led to the deaths of these two people.
“Maddie Durdant-hollamby was a young woman with a bright future ahead of her, and we are making sure her family are fully supported as we work to answer their questions about how she came to lose her life.
“Our investigation has found no known background of domestic abuse in this case so far, but we continue to appeal to anyone with any information they believe to be relevant to our enquiries to contact us as soon as possible.
