Aspiring barrister ‘stole £30,000’ from charity
An aspiring barrister allegedly stole £30,000 from a charity to fund a luxury spending spree that included a Versace dressing gown. Bottles of champagne and a Gucci shirt were among items supposedly purchased.
According to legal documents seen by The Times, the person at Bridging The Bar, which champions greater representation of ethnic minorities in the legal profession, allegedly transferred the funds due to a “loophole” in the charity’s systems. The money has since been recovered.
