Brighton marathon goes the extra half kilometre

-

Brighton Marathon organisers issued an apology yesterday after it emerged the course was 568m too long.

The error threw doubt in the men’s event after Neil Mcclements overtook Olly Garrod to win about 200m short of the finish line yesterday.

The miscalculation was discovered two hours after the race, in which 12,000 people ran along the city’s seafront in the UK’S second-biggest marathon. Brighton Marathon Weekend said it hoped it had not “marred the experience” for entrants.
