Man admits trying to kill £5.5m lottery-win wife

A husband is facing jail after admitting trying to kill his £5.5million lottery winning wife at their £700,000 cottage.

Stephen Gibbs, 45, initially denied the attempted murder of partner Emma Brown, 49, but changed his plea to guilty yesterday.

Mrs Brown required surgery following the alleged knife attack at her home in Barry, South Wales Cardiff Crown Court heard. Judge Richard Twomlow said: “You have now pleaded guilty to the offence of attempted murder, a serious offence. You face a lengthy prison sentence.”
