Ferrari sale foots bill for £2.8m RNLI boathouse

-

A new Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) boathouse has been paid for by a pair of classic Ferraris sold at auction for £8.5million – the charity’s biggest ever donation.

The two models were left to the RNLI by car enthusiast Richard Colton after he died in 2015, aged 82.

The 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB sold for £6.6 million at auction in Duxford, in 2015, while the 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 went for £1.93 million.

Later, £2.8 million from the sales funded the building of a new boathouse in the harbour town of Pwllheli on the Gwynedd coast in Wales which opened its doors this week.
