Shopkeepers warned of bulk baked bean buyers

Shopkeepers are being asked not to sell baked beans to youngsters amid a rise in popularity of an internet prank in which they are emptied on to doorsteps, driveways or cars.

They have been warned by West Yorkshire Police to beware of youths buying large quantities of cans after several incidents of vandalism were posted on social media websites such as Tiktok.

PCSO Michelle Owens said: “It has come to the attention of the police that a new trend has started by groups of youths called ‘beaning’.

“If you work in a shop, please be aware of youths buying large quantities of cans of beans.”
