Motorist started pursuit ‘because dog was upset’

-

A driver told a court he sped away from police because his “dog was becoming upset” in the back of the car.

Rhys Boylan, 26, was pulled over for no insurance but despite giving his details he suddenly raced off, prompting a high speed chase.

Video showed Boylan driving at twice the speed limit, across a zebra crossing, mounting a pavement outside homes and on the wrong side of the road towards oncoming traffic.

Judge Michael Roques at Amersham Law Courts, said: “That was the worst excuse for putting the lives of others at risk I have ever heard.” Boylan of Roade, Northants, was given an eight month suspended jail sentence.
