Spring 1938, and while the world descends into chaos, a little corner of Yorkshire remains forever placid, barring the odd animal mishap and romantic maelstrom. The second series finds James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph) tempted to stay in Glasgow, where his family and a job both reside. Not for long, of course, and he returns to the Dales with lambing season in full swing, and a budgie left to the tender mercies of Tristan (Callum Woodhouse).
