It is fitting that this 1975 version of Jerome K Jerome’s comic novel about halcyon boating trips along the Thames returns us to the salad days of TV adaptations – how often would we now be treated to a TV film adapted by Tom Stoppard, directed by Stephen Frears and starring Michael Palin? Tim Curry and Stephen Moore join Palin as the three friends messing around in boats and chasing landlubbing ladies.
