The Essay: The Songs That Shaped Me
RADIO 3, 10.45PM All this week on The Essay, the Indian writer and musician Amit Chaudhuri gives a series of personal essays about the music and songwriters that have been most influential in his life. Chaudhuri grew up in Bombay in the Sixties and Seventies, a time of extreme cultural change, with the music of The Beatles and Joni Mitchell. “In the midst of that remarkable time and city,” he writes, “I then discovered Indian classical music, which, decades later, would renew my creative rediscovery of the blues.”
