The Town Made of Stories
RADIO 4, 4PM Pieve Santo Stefano is a small town in Tuscany that is home to an extraordinary national public archive of autobiographical writings by ordinary people. The diaries, letters and personal memoirs depict daily human life and tell the story of Italian history, from fragile journals that are centuries old, to contemporary accounts of the pandemic. The writer and translator Orla O’neill joins together with the visionary radio producer Cathy Fitzgerald to open up the archive for British listeners, sharing the precious everyday treasures they discover.
