Albert’s pointed letters to Victoria put online
Scathing handwritten letters sent by Prince Albert to Queen Victoria after their arguments can be read by the public for the first time, more than 80 years after their daughter tried to destroy them.
The notes, in which Albert attempts to have the last word after a dispute, were burnt by Princess Beatrice, the couple’s youngest daughter, in the 1940s to protect their reputations.
However, an unknown archivist had made photographic copies in the Royal Archives in order to preserve them.
