‘Drink partaken’ during Rayner slur meeting

One of Angela Rayner’s front-bench colleagues said there “may have been drink partaken” at an event where she called Conservatives “scum”.

Emily Thornberry, the shadow trade secretary, said Ms Rayner should not have made the remark but the rest of her comments were in keeping with the “atmosphere” of a fringe meeting.
