War veteran’s pension stolen by MOD worker

A Ministry of Defence employee cheated a war veteran out of his pension and tried to blame his friend for the crime, a court heard.

Michael Wilson, 34, posed as Frederick Lucy to change payment details so money would be paid into his own bank account instead.

Wilson, working for Veterans UK – a Ministry of Defence group for service personnel, veterans and families – defrauded his victim of £2,167.

Wilson, from Newport on the Isle of Wight, admitted fraud by false representation and perverting the course of justice. Judge Tim Mousley QC warned Wilson he could be jailed when he is sentenced on Nov 30.
