Don’t mention it

-

sir – I once wrote a letter of thanks to a railway company after one of its staff took care of me when I fell ill during a journey (Letters, October 13).

I received a very polite reply, assuring me that it took customer complaints very seriously and hoped I hadn’t been too inconvenienced. Alisdair Keats-rawling

sir – The old Great Western Railway, which the Labour government nationalised in 1948, published an excellent monthly magazine for its staff. It ran a regular column in two sections, “People We Have Pleased” and “People We Intend To Please”, featuring letters of praise and complaint from both passengers and commercial customers who used the goods services.

Perhaps the company that employs Bridget Thompson’s kind railwayman (Letters, October 12) could introduce an online version.
