PM used £2.6m briefing room to watch Bond film
DOWNING Street’s new £2.6million briefing room was used by Boris Johnson to watch the latest James Bond film.
It is understood that the Prime Minister attended a private screening of No Time To Die at No9 Downing Street after office hours on Thursday.
As a result the twice-daily briefings with political journalists had to be moved next door for two days.
A No 10 spokesman said: “The Prime Minister met with Pinewood Studios, Universal Pictures, Eon Productions and the BFI to congratulate them on the success of the latest James Bond instalment – a testament to the talent of British creative industry.”
He added: “An evening film screening took place for staff, who made voluntary donations, with all proceeds going to Sarcoma UK.”
All installation costs were said to have been met by the companies involved.
Mr Johnson’s plan for televised press conferences to be held in the room was scrapped six months ago and now it is used by ministers for TV briefings on the coronavirus pandemic.
