The position of the recognised Hungarian Government under the Regent Admiral Horthy is uncertain. It is not even known if they were still in Budapest yesterday evening. One report said that Admiral Horthy had fled, and another said he had taken refuge at Prague.

Wiring from Vienna on Saturday, Reuter states: “The Hon. F. Lindley, the British Minister in Vienna, received late last night the first news of the arrival of Karl in West Hungary. His Excellency communicated the information immediately to Herr Schober, the Chancellor, who summoned a midnight conference of the leaders of the political parties. Karl arrived at Oedenburg on Friday morning, at eleven o’clock, when the Osztenburg forces immediately went over to him, and he was proclaimed King. It is believed that he is on his way with the troops to Budapest, but this is not actually known to be a fact. “A provisional Government has been formed, composed of Herr Rakovski, Count Julius Andrassy, Count Albert Apponyi, and Herr Gratz, former Foreign Minister. All telegraphic and telephonic communication with West Hungary has been interrupted since ten o’clock on Friday night. The train service has also ceased.”
