Treatment of Prof Stock disgraceful, says minister
The “bullying” of the university professor Kathleen Stock highlighted the need to protect women who are “hounded” for their beliefs on gender identity in the workplace, an equalities minister warned yesterday.
Kemi Badenoch told MPS the Government “should do more” after the “disgraceful treatment” of Prof Kathleen Stock.
Prof Stock announced she would be leaving the University of Sussex last month after “a miserable time”. Her decision came after an anonymous group, reportedly set up by students, launched a campaign to get her sacked amid accusations of transphobia. Prof Stock has previously said she is “at odds” with many academics as she believes gender identity is not more important than facts about biological sex, “particularly when it comes to law and policy”.
