Key Roman finds of the 21st century
In 2016, builders in the village of Tisbury in Wiltshire found what might be one of Britain’s largest Roman villas from the 2nd century BC, complete with a large mosaic.
In 2020, National Trust archaeologists found a lost mosaic in one of the rooms at Chedworth Roman Villa in the Cotswolds.
In 2017, a mosaic “unique to Britain” – and one of only three of its kind in the world – was unearthed in the Berkshire village of Boxford.
