Why masks matter
SIR – Kate Mulvey (Features, November 23) doesn’t want to be called selfish for not wearing a mask.
Does she think me selfish for wanting people to wear masks so that I can keep safe on my daily bus journeys to and from radiotherapy treatment? Obviously I wear a mask but, according to research, that seems to protect others more than it does me.
Rather than considering me, maybe she could think of the waste of NHS resources if I ruin my costly treatment by catching Covid because of someone else’s wish not to wear a mask. Jacqueline Hawkins
