Adele warms up for spell in Las Vegas

- By Our Foreign Staff

ADELE yesterday announced a three-month residency in Las Vegas starting in January.

The British singer will perform two shows each weekend from Jan 21 to April 16 at Caesars Palace Hotel in the desert city.

“See you at Caesars in Vegasss,” the singer tweeted, announcing her “Weekends with Adele” shows.

Concert residencies in Las Vegas have become a major attraction in recent years for musicians.

Celine Dion, Katy Perry, Carrie Underwood, Usher, Barry Manilow and Shania Twain are among the top acts already playing there, or who have announced multiple dates in the next few months.

The Vegas concerts are extremely lucrative for artists. Celine Dion reportedly made $500,000 (£375,000) a show during her 2011 residency, and Sir Elton John was thought to have made around $330,000 a day during his 28-date stint in 2015.

Unlike some of the other huge stadium shows in Vegas, Adele’s weekend shows will be in the Colosseum, which has an official capacity of 4,100.

Adele’s announcement follows the bumper release earlier this month of her new album 30, which debuted at number one in 30 countries.

The singer, who has a home in Los Angeles, had previously announced she will play two concerts at London’s Hyde Park in July next year but has not announced a full-scale tour.
