Pothole damage to cars getting worse, says RAC
Potholes caused more than 10,000 drivers to break down last year, the RAC has revealed, as it warned that just patching up roads does not work.
The motoring organisation attended its highest level of pothole-related incidents last year since 2018 and warned the state of our roads could worsen further over the winter.
The RAC is calling on the Government to undertake a programme of resurfacing, saying that just fixing individual potholes, which could appear again, was a “false economy”. RAC figures showed it attended 10,123 callouts due to vehicles hitting potholes last year, compared for 8,524 in 2020 and 9,198 in 2019.
