‘Good News Gary’ Duke’s lawyer filled with optimism
Gary Bloxsome, the Duke’s London-based lawyer and self-appointed gate-keeper, accompanied him on the short journey to Windsor Castle, where the Queen revealed his fate.
The 57-yearold, a father-oftwo, has become so close to the Duke that he regularly plays golf with him and demands that all messages go through him.
Dubbed “Good News Gary”, he has insisted on only briefing the beleaguered Duke with the best-case scenario, even when things go disastrously wrong. As such, the Duke has been repeatedly told, even last week, that the scandal will blow over and that he will one day be able to return to official duties. Mr Bloxsome’s policy of “stonewalling” the claims made against the Duke, and refusing to accept service of the lawsuit last year, infuriated others in the Duke’s camp who felt he was being failed by the strategy.
