Mists of time

Morning mist swirls across lowlying land beneath St Bartholomew’s Church in Gloucestershire. The church, on an ancient Christian site, near the top of Churchdown Hill, has its origins in Norman times, and is likely to have been established in 1175. The mound on which the church was built is manmade and skeletons and stone idols have been found there.
