Roly-poly pud, please
SIR – In the feature (January 11) on creating a pudding for the Queen’s jubilee, I was disappointed at the list of the nation’s five favourite puddings – sticky toffee, profiteroles, tiramisu, brownies and Bakewell tart.
Three of them are not British and there is no mention of suet puddings such as spotted dick or jam roly-poly, nor a nod to the array of fruit crumbles, from the first rhubarb to September’s blackberry and apple. Avril Wright

SIR – Poor Knights of Windsor is a holiday pudding of ours, with an apt jubilee name. Fry white bread in lashings of butter. Spread a good sharp jam on top and then slather with clotted cream. Delicious.
To earn this feast, our children had to have taken part in at least three of these during the same day: surfing, waterskiing, walking up Brea Hill, tennis and a coastal walk with parents. Ian Brent-smith
